"Our 2019 MUSE - ten aboriginal artists.
Their MUSE - country, culture and their identity.
It is our privilege to exhibit ten very talented and impressive artists as MUSE @ Taronga’s creative force to celebrate NAIDOC. This year’s NAIDOC focus is “Voice. Treaty. Truth.” And Taronga is proud to supporting the voice and stories of the 10 Aboriginal artists for MUSE. Through their own sense of design, rhythm, language, colour and movement they find different ways to share stories of who they are and their traditional lands. The artists share personal and cultural insights told through contemporary and traditional art making processes; these stories are grown from the unique understanding and connection which Aboriginal people have to Country, which Aboriginal people have had for more than 65,000 years. Our 2019 MUSE artists come from Wiradjuri, Bundjalung, Wongaibon, Gadigal, Gumbaynggirr, Awabakal, Wongkumara, Yankunytjatjara/Kokatha andYuwaalarary/Gamilaraay."
